It is a very nice country Inn and has a nice dining area inside and out. Outside dining overlooks the McKenzie River. Food is special, service is awesome.Pretty surroundings.A small store is 8miles away.Rooms are quaint..The grounds are well kept and owners will get you anything to make you comfortable.
This is a location that can't be beat for an angler. It's situated on one of the fishiest sections of the whole river. Bert, the proprietor and fishing guide, was supremely helpful with fly selection and helping us decide which section of river to float. We brought our own drift boat, so we didn't enlist his professional services, but he wasn't put out in the least. Had the water been lower, we could have fished effectively from his property. As it was, the serenity overshadowed the lack of immediately available fish catching.
I highly recommend this place as a quiet and beautiful respite from the everyday world.
The restaurant was closed.
While the property is beautiful and the rooms are spacious, be warned that you should confirm your specific arrival time at least the day before you arrive and hope that someone is there. We could give you the whole long saga about waiting 3 hours to check in, 2 of those after the official check in time, but we won’t. Cell service in the area is spotty and so once you get there, if no one is there, you won’t be able to contact anyone. In looking at reviews, I see that this is not an uncommon issue. They were also not very hospitable and we did not feel very welcomes.
I can't wait to return and enjoy this very special inn and these two amazing and talented innkeepers, again. Thank you, Bert and Annie!
it was just ok. The spot is beautiful but the furniture and carpets could be modernized a bit (didn't feel fresh and clean).
And careful even if it's called B&B you're on your own for breakfast.
We stayed in the Atrium suite, soon to be renamed Kingfisher Suite, with a riverside view of the gorgeous McKenzie River. The whole place is whimsical, private, and has a well-cared for handcrafted feel. Bert told us stories of the property evolving over time, and of his plans to continue improving it. I can't wait to return and see what's he's done next.
The McKenzie River Inn was our first stop during a week trip and it was perfect! Our hosts, Bert and Annie, were personable, talented and went way over and above what most hosts would feel the need to do. Our suite (The Meadowlark) was absolutely gorgeous, the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've slept on at an inn and we enjoyed complete privacy in a luxurious and beautiful setting next to the river. We felt completely at home stretched out on a beautiful sofa in the den early next morning, while watching the sun rise over the river.
We strolled the lush grounds of the inn and enjoyed a gourmet breakfast sitting on the back deck, overlooking the glorious McKenzie - eagles flew, merganzers dove for breakfast and geese took a break, all of whom treated us to a wonderful morning, before heading to the Redwoods in California.
